We are looking for a performer from the Czech Republic to complete the Czech-Icelandic company for a compensated collaboration on the second part of a two-years long international social-artistic project that will take place from January 23 to February 13, 2023 in Reykjavík.

The project Be part of Elegìa delle cose perdute is one of the 4 parts of the two-years long international project Be Part!, which takes place in Brno, Reykjavík and Prague in 2022 and 2023 and brings together artists and organizations from several countries around the world.

In Reykjavík, a group of 10 artists (5 CZ and 5 IS) will first work with the ensemble Zerogrammi from Italy and then with the local community of refugees and asylum seekers. The cooperation will conclude with a joint performance, which will be presented in one of the cultural institutions in Reykjavík.

We will announce the results by 10 December 2022 at the latest. The selection of the company member will be online based on the submitted materials:

Zerogrammi

Zerogrammi is a dance company founded in 2001, directed by choreographer Stefano Mazzotta, supported by Piedmont Region, City of Turin, and MIC/Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage. The organic journey of discovery, leading to creation (over 30 titles realized in collaboration with theaters and festivals in Italy, Russia, Portugal, Holland, Spain, Germany) comes to compositional work through dramatic and choreographic research, social and educational projects, residences built around specific anthropological and geographical interests, practice of languages such as photography, plastic arts, literature, to give to the creative work new signs, new meanings and an experience-based baggage representing the essential tool with which we come to the construction of our artistic work, renewing its sense and urgency. (...) From these concept have arsose creations that embrace inspirations and stimuli from the most diverse worlds. Literature and philosophy, tradition and everyday life have given birth to original and sharp, ironic and intense performances, works marked by a careful integrity (Hystrio Award 2013).

Arrival to Reykjavík

Seminar with the Italian ensemble Zerogrammi

The work of the international company will begin with an intensive seminar with the Italian ensemble Zerogrammi. The group from the Czech Republic, together with 5 performers from Iceland, will familiarize themselves with the performance of the Italian ensemble Elegìa delle cose perdute, with its principles and choreographic material. The entire group of artists will work to extract the essence of the performance and develop a structure for subsequent work with the local refugee community.

 

The seminar will last 5 days - a total of approx. 40 hours of work.

Seminar with the Red Cross

Before starting the work, the artists will go through a one-day workshop by the Iceland Red Cross, which will prepare them to work with the refugee community.

Work with the refugee community

For the next 14 days, the entire company, led by an Italian ensemble, will work with 50-60 members of the local refugee community. About 30 hours of work in total.

Final performance

The conclude of the work with the community will be a joint performance Be Part of Elegìa delle cose perdute.

13. 2. 2023

Focus group and departure to the Czech Republic

The work with the community will be monitored in the last days by a researcher who will lead a focus group with the participants. The previews will take place as part of the work with the community, the final reflection will take place the day after the final performance. 

Gross fee: 23,500,- CZK

The project also covers the costs of international travel, accommodation and meals (per-diem).
